Liver Cancer

Liver cancer starts in the cells of the liver. Because the liver is made up of different types of cells, many types of tumors can form in the liver, not all of which are cancer.

Malignant tumors include:

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the most common form of liver cancer begins in the main liver cells.
Bile duct cancers (cholangiocarcinomas), start in the small tubes that carry bile to the gallbladder.
Cancers that begin in blood vessels in the liver
Hepatoblastoma, is a very rare form of liver cancer that begins in blood vessels in the liver. It is usually found in children less than four years of age.

Surgical treatment is the best option for treatment of liver cancers.
