Gastrointestinal/Colorectal

The gastrointestinal (GI) system is the tubular passage of mucous membrane and muscle by which food is ingested to provide the body with nutrients it can absorb and to excrete waste products. The system includes the alimentary canal extending from the mouth to the anus, and the hormones and enzymes assisting in digestion.

The organs of the GI system include:

If you have had bariatric surgery or are planning to have it, you are invited to participate in this free bimonthly group where bariatric professionals will address a variety of topics to help you achieve the best possible outcomes. All groups run from 6:00-7:30 PM in Greenwich Hospital's Cafeteria Conference Room.
